On November 5th, 2025, Dr. Anchitha Krishna, an Ad hoc Faculty at the National Institute of Technology, Calicut, delivered a lecture for the PG students and Research Scholars of the Department at the Research Center Seminar Hall. Dr. Anchitha received her doctoral degree from the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, IIT Madras. She was a Fulbright-Nehru Doctoral fellow at the University of Idaho (2017-18). She spoke about the interconnections between environment and popular literature, tracing the evolution of the environmental movement, its current trajectory and exploring the possibilities of literature and literary studies in the age of planetary crisis. She explained the necessities of environmentally conscious thought in the context of literary studies.

The session was attended by 51 students including 4 research scholars from Providence Women’s College (Autonomous), Calicut and 12 II MA students from Government Arts and Science College, Meenchanda.
