Kizhakke Potta Kesava Menon was the founder of the renowned Malayalam daily ‘The Mathrubhumi’. He was a freedom fighter and journalist. He was awarded the third highest civilian honour, Padma Bhushan in 1966.

John Matthai was an eminent economist who was instrumental in starting many academic centres. He served as Independent India's first Railway Minister. He was awarded the Padma Sree and Padma Vibhushan.

Vengalil Krishnan Krishna Menon, the eminent diplomat was India’s Defense Minister.  He was one of the major architects of Indian foreign policy. Menon was awarded with the Padma Vibhushan.

Sankarankutty Kunjiraman Pottekkatt, celebrated Malayalam writer, was best known for his travelogues. He authored nearly 60 books, which include 10 novels, 24 collections of short stories, 3 anthologies of poems, 18 travelogues, 4 plays, a collection of essays and a couple of books based on personal reminiscences. He was a rcipient of the Jnanpith Award, the highest literary honour in India.

Cheriyan Kandi Muhammad Koya  was a politician who served as the 8^th Chief Minister of Kerala from October to December 1979. As the education Minister he is known for implementing many reforms in the education sector

Maniyankode Padmaprabha Veerendra Kumar was an Indian politician, writer and journalist, who was a member of the 14^th Lok Sabha. He was also the chairman and managing director of the Malayalam daily newspaper Mathrubhumi.

Muttayil Govindamenon Sankara Narayanan is a celebrated Indian historian, academician and political commentator. He headed the Department of History at Calicut University from 1976 to 1990 and served as the Chairman (2001–03) of the Indian Council of Historical Research.

Muthal Puredath Muralidhara Menon was an Indian diplomat, ambassador to Bahrain, Maldives, United Arab Emirates and Brazil.

Chakkupurayil Radhakrishnan is a writer, who is also known for his science fictions. He was the former chief editor of Madhyamam Daily, and, recipient of many honours like Ezhuthachan Puraskaram, Mathrubhumi Literary Award etc.

U. K. Kumaran is a contemporary Malayalam novelist and short story writer. He was awarded the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award and Vayalar Award.
