Awaaz Students Union and Women Development Cell Organize 'SHE FEST 2024'

7th February 2024, Kozhikode: The Awaaz Students Union, in collaboration with the Women Development Cell of The Zamorin’s Guruvayurappan College, organized the much-anticipated 'SHE FEST 2024' on 7th February 2024. The event was inaugurated by Smt. KK Rema, MLA, and featured a panel of experts addressing various issues related to women's empowerment, gender equality, and social development.

The inauguration ceremony, held in the college auditorium, began with a keynote speech by Smt. KK Rema, MLA, who highlighted the importance of platforms like SHE FEST in empowering women and fostering discussions around gender issues in educational institutions. She encouraged students to actively participate in such initiatives and emphasized the role of education in achieving gender equality.

The panel discussion, which followed the inauguration, featured a distinguished lineup of experts, including Dr. PN Ajitha, Dr. Binu PS, Dr. Manju C Nair, Smt. Ambika Rajesh, and Smt. Reshma Suresh Gopal. The experts shared their insights on various topics, including women’s health, education, self-defense, mental well-being, and the importance of leadership roles for women in society.

Dr. PN Ajitha discussed the significance of mental health awareness among women, while Dr. Binu PS emphasized the need for educational empowerment. Dr. Manju C Nair shed light on women's legal rights and protections, and Smt. Ambika Rajesh and Smt. Reshma Suresh Gopal provided practical insights on self-defense techniques and building resilience.

The SHE FEST aimed to create a safe and open environment for discussing challenges faced by women, and to provide practical tools for empowerment. The interactive session saw enthusiastic participation from students, who raised questions and shared their perspectives on the issues discussed.

The Awaaz Students Union president expressed gratitude to the Women Development Cell and the expert panel for making the event a success, and emphasized the union’s commitment to promoting gender equality and empowering women on campus.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks, and attendees expressed hope that SHE FEST would continue to be a regular part of the college’s calendar, helping to inspire and empower the next generation of women leaders.
