1st February 2024, Kozhikode: The Awaaz Students Union of The Zamorin’s Guruvayurappan College took a significant step towards enhancing student engagement and campus communication by launching the college's monthly newspaper, 'ZGC Times,' on 1st February 2024. The inaugural edition of the newspaper was released by renowned Malayalam writer UK Kumaran, who graced the event as the chief guest.

The inauguration ceremony, held in the college auditorium, was attended by faculty members, students, and distinguished guests. UK Kumaran, known for his literary contributions to Malayalam literature, officially unveiled the first edition of ZGC Times, expressing his admiration for the students' initiative in creating a platform for campus news, events, and student voices.

In his keynote address, UK Kumaran spoke about the importance of journalism in society and encouraged students to use the platform to express their creativity, thoughts, and opinions. He emphasized the role of student-led media in fostering critical thinking and promoting informed discussions on social, cultural, and academic issues.

The newspaper, ZGC Times, aims to cover a wide range of topics, including campus news, student achievements, upcoming events, and creative contributions from the student body. The editorial team, composed of students from various departments, has worked tirelessly to bring this project to life, ensuring that it reflects the dynamic spirit of the college community.

The president of the Awaaz Students Union, during his speech, highlighted the significance of ZGC Times as a platform for student expression and empowerment. He thanked UK Kumaran for his presence and support, and expressed hope that the newspaper would continue to grow and become an integral part of campus life.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks, and copies of the first edition of ZGC Times were distributed to the attendees.
