Observation of World Soil Day 2024 Organized by Nature Club, Bhoomithrasena Club, Scientists Association of Malabar and Department of Botany

World Soil Day 2024 was observed at Zamorin’s Guruvayurappan College on 5 December 2024, jointly organized by the Nature Club, Bhoomithrasena Club, Scientists Association of Malabar, and the Department of Botany. The programme aimed to promote awareness on the significance of soil conservation and sustainable environmental practices.

As part of the observance, Er. Abdul Hameed delivered an informative and thought-provoking talk on the theme “Water–Soil–Biomass”. In his lecture, he highlighted the interdependence of natural resources and stressed the importance of protecting soil health for ecological balance and sustainable agriculture. He also emphasized the need for responsible water management and biomass utilization to ensure long-term environmental sustainability.

Students and faculty members actively participated in the session, which enhanced their understanding of soil-related environmental issues and encouraged them to adopt conservation-oriented practices. The programme successfully conveyed the relevance of soil preservation in addressing global challenges such as climate change, food security, and biodiversity loss.

The observance of World Soil Day 2024 served as an effective platform to promote environmental consciousness among the academic community and reinforced the institution’s commitment to ecological stewardship and sustainability.
