Kozhikode, 24th May 2024 ‘Shobheendram’, a green initiative aimed at promoting the mass planting of saplings, was officially launched at The Zamorin’s Guruvayurappan College campus on Friday. The project, inaugurated by college principal Dr. B. Rajani, was initiated by ‘Rewind’, a collective of college alumni, in memory of the late environmentalist and former teacher T. Shobheendran. Project coordinators revealed that the initiative will kick off with the planting of 125 saplings on the college campus, symbolizing a commitment to environmental conservation. The launch also coincided with a students’ reunion on May 26, with about 1,500 former students from five degree and postgraduate batches participating in the event. The reunion reflects the strong connection between alumni and the institution, with ‘Shobheendram’ serving as a tribute to the legacy of environmental stewardship.
