20th March 2020, Kozhikode: In response to the growing threat of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Department of Chemistry at The Zamorin’s Guruvayurappan College, in collaboration with the Student Police Cadets (SPC) Malappuram, took the initiative to produce hand sanitizer and distribute it to frontline police personnel and the public. The hand sanitizers were prepared and distributed through the CASABA Police Station, as well as directly to the public, in a commendable effort to curb the spread of the virus.

With a surge in demand for hand sanitizers and other hygiene products during the pandemic, the Department of Chemistry stepped up to address the shortage by using their laboratory facilities to create safe and effective sanitizers. The project was carried out under the guidance of expert faculty members, ensuring that the sanitizers met the required safety and hygiene standards.
