Earth, Nature and sustainable development has been one of the top priorities of theInstitution since its establishment. For realizing the goal of sustainable development the institution has transformed the barren hill (Pokkunnu) where the campus is located in to a 92 acres of land of greenery and scenic beauty. Transformation of the barren hill in to a place where large and unique tree and plant species thrive has been the effort of decades
of teacher-student participation. Floral, faunal and fungal diversity of the land has increased manifold over the years due to the conscious effort of the stakeholders of the institution. The campus maintains a grove (kavu) of medicinal plants, which is unique of its kind. Conservation efforts are ongoing with the active participation of students and teachers. Efforts at germplasm conservation of diverse crop plants has been initiated with the help of experienced conservationist farmers. The Fungal diversity laboratory of the college maintains mycological culture collections in an effort to conserve the microbial
diversity of the campus and adjoining areas. Earth, nature nurturing efforts send a clear and strong message to students and inspire them to judiciously conserve our natural resources
